AI Hype vs. Reality

AI per the pitch of predatory capitalists, ignorant speculators or fantasist dreamers:

"OMGBBQ!!!"

AI per actual reality today:

A rando rogue's gallery of opaque, fragile, mass IP-ripping, "me too" bumblers and sloppy, hallucinating liars being asked to do dumb trivial tasks and shallow obvious tricks and in possibly the *wildly* most inefficient way (by design!), all while consuming increasingly vast amounts of compute and energy and increasing both carbon pollution and water use and the prices of all shared resources otherwise needed by both much more critical, legit and sustainable use cases. (Oh and threatening the *real* economy and the employability of billions in the labor class -- as a bonus.)
